About NetOwl®

The NetOwl line of products has been developed by SRA International, Inc. in response to the needs of its clients for advanced text mining capabilities. They were drowning in large quantities of unstructured text and recognized the need for fast and accurate text mining as a solution. SRA released the first version of NetOwl in 1996, and it has been enhanced continuously through the rapid transition of advanced text mining R&D results into a well-engineered and reliable product.

Beginning with research and development for the U.S. Government in the early 1990's, SRA realized that its clients needed text mining products that not only showed promise in the lab but also could be used to solve real problems. NetOwl allows many different customers — both Government and in the private sector — to derive critical value from their unstructured data. As a consequence of NetOwl's success, its list of customers is both extensive and diverse, ranging from the national intelligence community to leading publishing and financial services firms.

NetOwl has demonstrated its accuracy through state-of-the-art performance over many years in Government-sponsored benchmarkings for text mining technology. For example, NetOwl posted the highest score ever achieved for name extraction from unformatted text, a score which has never been equaled by another system. In recent benchmarkings, it has also achieved the highest score for link extraction of any participant. Link and event extraction represents the leading edge of information extraction technology.
